The Polymers Process Improve Engineer is a Technology employee embedded in Manufacturing sites to provide technology support for the Manufacturing Organization. Primary responsibilities include supporting process and product deployments to the site, providing technical leadership, and engaging within the global technology networks to share learnings and implement learnings. This role can cover either polymerization and/or extrusion technologies. Location: Baytown Area (city & state to be determined). What You Will Do
Improve Engineers (IEs) are Technology employees embedded in the Manufacturing (MFG) sites to provide technology support for the MFG organization. They have four primary responsibilities: Lead site performance improvement activities to close gaps between best site performance and best-in-network performance Support process and product technology deployments to the site Provide technical leadership in mentoring, problem solving, and unit monitoring Engage process networks to share learnings and best practices between sites Per these basic responsibilities IEs are often key contributors to process efficiency improvements, capacity optimization activities, capital and expense project development, process and product plant trial programs, equipment and engineering change reviews, and incident investigations. IEs are generally expected to dedicate at least a minority component of their time to base site support. The extent depends on prioritized site needs versus technology commitments and individual development opportunities. About You
Skills and Qualifications
Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills Experience with process optimization, control, troubleshooting, process equipment, facility projects Provide technical mentoring for less experienced colleagues and newly appointed supervisors Able to effectively deliver on primary responsibilities with limited line management oversight Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to present clear and data-driven recommendations Ability to navigate organizational boundaries and develop influence without direct authority Ability to work in strict adherence to Manufacturing safety rules, safety systems, and Management of Change Sound business judgment and risk assessment skills (SHE and IP) with the ability to balance ideas against business needs Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering (typical: Chemical or Mechanical, but others accepted) Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Demonstrated work experience in polymers manufacturing environment Demonstrated work experience in new process and/or product technology trials Experience with data analytics software (SeeQ, PI, Uniformance) Your Benefits
