PLC Controls Technician - Nights

Job type: Full‑time, Night shift

Job Overview Position responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining PLC systems used within Pepsi bottling/processing facilities and other advanced production equipment. Includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.

Primary Accountabilities

Perform preventative maintenance on PLC systems

Program or perform repairs on PLC systems

Perform preventative maintenance or repairs on more advanced production equipment as needed

Conduct breakdown analysis

Perform general housekeeping

Upgrade production lines with new or upgraded equipment/technology

Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned line

Manage line for package changeovers

Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards

Work independently under limited supervision (self‑management)

Document work schedule and tasks completed

Minimum Education High School/GED

Basic Qualifications

18 years or older

Pass technical assessment addressing job‑critical maintenance knowledge areas

Experience with basic electrical systems (starters, fuses, contacts, relays)

Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)

Experience with electronics (level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs)

Experience with PLC (industrial maintenance, computer control systems)

Experience with product manuals and schematic interpretation

Experience with troubleshooting (diagnostics, problem solving)

Helpful Experience

Mechanical systems (gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, bearings)

Compressors/ammonia refrigeration systems

Conveyors and air–veyors

Hydraulic systems (cylinders, pumps, valves)

Kinematics (line speed, sprocket ratios)

Packaging/high‑speed production (bottling, consumer products)

Pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes)

Preventive maintenance (computerized charts/data)

Pumps (seal/motor replacement, spec understanding)

Servo motors (i‑coders, etc.)

Mechanical drawing interpretation (hydraulics, pneumatics)

Team‑based work environments

Physical Requirements Continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals. Frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, kneeling. May require weekend and/or holiday work.

Location and Travel Austin, Indiana – on-site
