Position Maintenance Mechanic

Location Dolton, IL Manufacturing Facility

Reports To Maintenance Supervisor

This role will work 2nd Shift, plus cover a weekend on-call shift once per month.

Scope: The Maintenance Mechanic inspects, identifies, diagnoses and corrects mechanical or minor electrical/instrumental problems. Fabricates, installs, adjusts, repairs, replaces parts, dismantles and rebuilds equipment/instruments to correct problems per schematics and work instructions.

Uses maintenance equipment such as: arc and tig welders, acetylene torch, lathe, pipe threader, drill press, various power and hand tools.

Utilizes and inspects forklift, scissor lift, drum handler and pallet jack. Prepares records of activities in computer databases, logbooks and on repair records.

Works in accordance with OSHA requirements, established safety procedures, wears appropriate PPE, uses prescribed safety equipment, attends safety meetings, and notifies appropriate personnel of emergency conditions.

Has basic knowledge of manufacturing process and material characteristics and instruments.

Has strong mechanical knowledge of equipment.

Understands and follows Food Safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Procedures to meet plant sanitation standards. Works any shift schedule or weekday as required.

Essential Job Functions

Self-starter to Inspect, Identify, diagnose, and correct mechanical, pneumatic, problems.

Install, maintain, repair, adjust, dismantle, and rebuild control systems per schematics and instruction.

Additional Responsibilities

Ensures work conditions are safe utilizing required safety procedures, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot work permits, Class 1 Div. 2 hazardous area precautions, etc.

Personnel Protective Equipment is required to be utilized as instructed.

Performs tests, collects data and prepares accurate work log records and data bases, utilizing basic computer skills.

Capable of ordering parts and maintaining accurate inventory control.

Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment operation in a manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications Education: This position requires a high school diploma minimum with trade school.

Mechanical trade and welding skills are required for this position along with the ability to comprehend piping schematics and blueprints.

Experience: Requires 2 years’ experience in industrial maintenance operations or related field.

Physical Requirements: This job position requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, repetitive motions and reaching above and below the shoulders. The ability to verbally communicate, hear and perceive visually is required.

Exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects is required for this job position.
