Packaging Technician - Level III
to join our team for our location in
Memphis, TN
. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: · Under minimal supervision supports site level packaging operations with activities ranging from daily packaging operational activities to implementing packaging related changes that result in efficiency, cost saving and/or sustainability improvements. · Actively participates in project improvement teams led by other departments including but not limited to HSE, Packaging, Purchasing, Quality and Manufacturing. · Works directly with suppliers of packaging materials to design, qualify and implement new packaging solutions. · Receives, checks, and approves Packaging Data Sheets (PDS) from suppliers in Packaging Data Management System (PDMS). · Involved with site level returnable packaging program working with team members. · Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) working on projects to reduce waste and improve safety. !*!
To be successful in this role you will need the following: · Packaging Material Knowledge - Demonstrates the benefits of using different packaging mediums by articulating their physical properties, types and characteristics to select the packaging materials for the application, product protection, cost and impact on the environment. · Returnable Packaging Management - Gathers and analyzes financial data, fleet sizing, tracking, maintenance, logistics and performance monitoring requirements to develop a returnable packaging program that delivers savings in material and transportation while reducing waste. · Environmentally Sustainable Packaging Principles - Outlines the environmentally sustainable packaging material selection and its life cycle impact by describing selection criteria, performance considerations and application in designing order to achieve the goal to reduce, reuse, recycle or reclaim. Operations Integration in Industrial Packaging - Demonstrates and applies knowledge of manufacturing process, equipment, and the physical flows of inbound parts to finished goods to establish industrial packaging methods and equipment that integrate safely and efficiently into the operational environment. Education, Licenses, Certifications High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations
A two-year University degree from an accredited program in Business, Engineering or a relevant field of study preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, generating reports and advanced level computer skills This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience · Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience in a related field. · Addressing Packaging Improvements with Suppliers (internal and external) - Identifying improved packaging methodologies · Conducting investigations on packaging issues related to safety, Quality, Non-Compliance to establish root cause, identify corrective actions and implement the changes. · Communicate on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis with MDC leadership providing packaging updates. · Provide support to packaging team in waste reduction projects. · Provide support as needed in returnable packaging implementation. · This role is categorized as 100% on-site. Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
