Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Tampa, Fl.

Pay and Schedule

Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour

Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700

Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter - four times per year.

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday

Hours: Second Shift Tuesday-Thursday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm; Friday 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm; Saturday 6:30 am – 3:00 pm.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification post-secondary or technical certifications preferred

Basic tools required

Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)

Two (2) years or more of classroom training plus work experience preferred

Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A preferred

Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)

Important Note Some positions require additional screening including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test and/or badging or background requirements of the customer.

Responsibilities

Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Performs standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs

Performs preventive maintenance

Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable

Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required

Replaces defective components as instructed

Performs facility maintenance duties

Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once assigned a taskUtilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation

Works in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Performs other support duties as required to support operations (including service island support)
