CADD Designer I, Electrical and Gas Distribution
– Halff Halff is seeking a Electric and Gas Distribution Designer to join us in our San Antonio office. The general designer role focuses on the coordination and design of installations, extensions and/or system improvements related to the Electrical and Gas Distribution Systems. The position will use ESRI software for gas facility edits, ensure accuracy, perform job evaluations, reconcile and post activities in the production GIS database. What You Will Do
Landbase Services – coordinates the verification of edits, QA/QC, and closing of as-built designs with Designers, Construction personnel, Site Inspectors, and Schedulers Overhead Engineering - Coordinates and designs overhead electric system improvement projects and civic improvement projects Gas Engineering - Coordinates and designs gas system improvement/renewal projects; civic improvement projects; and large line extensions and service installations/upgrades/remodels for large commercial and industrial customers and developments Create, edit, analyze and implement gas facility data updates from job construction sketches, as-built sheets, or mobile applications using standardized CPS symbology and data placement business rules, related to civic improvement, rehab or other existing work Validate gas line pressure discrepancies, confirm gas service measurement and feature placement consistency Produce specialty Gas facility mapping and data product requests for internal and external use Maintain and ensure successful GIS data exports to critical modeling and outage applications such as ADMS, Gas SCADA, and Gas Hydraulic Modeling software Follow business rules and generate reports to improve the data quality for export to other systems Perform coordination with external agencies such as the City of San Antonio, TxDOT, etc. Conduct field surveying for the design and installation for each job, including staking pole locations and locating buried utilities Develop job sketches and perform As-builts Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned What You Will Need
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Exceptional knowledge and demonstrated application of relevant design and construction standards and applicable code requirements Extensive knowledge and demonstrated application of Electric Line Extension Policy and Gas Line Extension Policy Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision verified through assessments Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service Demonstrated ability to prepare high quality job sketches utilizing GIS Demonstrated ability to perform accurate and timely as-builts Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling Ability to set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions Demonstrated ability to forge strong relationships across levels and organizational lines of business Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and coordinate all projects to meet due dates Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel Ability to multi-task various critical work assignments in a fast paced environment in a professional manner Demonstrated positive interpersonal behaviors toward CPS Energy, associates, and customers Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in Science with a concentration in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or related field from an accredited university Designer/GIS, WMIS, and SAP Gas design and construction standards Gas Line Extension Policies Relative experience in supporting utility construction & maintenance GIS Placement Standards Gas as-built standards Functional GIS experience in the Gas utility industry Demonstrated experience to use and develop effective QAQC processes to maintain GIS data integrity requirements Documented experience working in ESRI Utility Network (UN) or an ESRI enterprise multi-user data ArcGIS environment Competencies
