Overview
Training Department - Pipe Welding Instructor - 1st Shift
QP Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Structural Welding Instructor for the Training School. This position will report to the Supervisor of the Weld School and play an integral role in the training and qualification of Welding students.
The Welding Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of students in various courses related to general safety, welding processes and wire types, as well as additional welding related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.
Responsibilities & Duties The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:
Instructing multiple Welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, MDD-01464, and Safety Briefs
Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests
Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
Supporting various course content reviews and related activities
Conducting assessments as scheduled
Meeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed
Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues
Supporting special training projects as required
Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
Support QP's development and implementation of the Lifting and Handling ALC Active Learning center
Will be supporting Nuclear Structural training and Nuclear Structural training for Welders
Work Schedule
General 1st shift hours (6:00am - 2:30 pm with flexibility to adjust hours as necessary to support business need)
Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)
The individual must be flexible to support short term training assignments on all shifts as needed
Qualifications Requirements:
Have a minimum of 3 years of Pipe Welding Trade experience
Have a minimum of 3 years Electric Boat experience
Currently qualified for 3 or more welding processes
Possess a High school diploma
Be able to qualify for respiratory protection as required
Preferred:
Possess a Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
Prior experience teaching
Experience with AWPSS
Qualified in VT acceptance criteria MDD-01464
Skills
Have a strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks and projects
Have a strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environment
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
Have experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Have a strong commitment to teaching others and leading student classes
Have a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance
Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required
