Process Engineer Co-op, East Providence, RI Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer Co-op will be responsible for the optimization, design, and improvement of our manufacturing processes. This position offers a unique chance to apply theoretical knowledge in a real‑world setting and make meaningful contributions to our company's success.
Duration: January 5th to July 10th
Expected Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the process engineering team to identify opportunities for improving manufacturing processes' efficiency, quality, and cost‑effectiveness.
Assist in gathering data that would be used to characterize and differentiate our products.
Help design and develop new manufacturing processes or modify existing processes, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Participate in troubleshooting efforts to address operational issues, equipment failures, and deviations from process parameters.
Prepare technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
Collaborate with other departments, such as R&D, quality assurance, and production, to support process‑related initiatives and projects.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by implementing lean principles, participating in root cause analysis, and suggesting innovative solutions.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Requirements
Working on or completed a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment (internships, co‑ops, or technical roles acceptable).
Must be considered a U.S. Person eligible to work in the United States.
Must have reliable transportation and reside within a commutable distance.
Comfortable working hands‑on with machines, tools, and operators.
Strong problem‑solving and mechanical aptitude.
Willingness to learn and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
Effective communicator who can work well with production teams.
Detail‑oriented and organized.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or basic quality tools a plus.
Possess a collaborative team‑oriented mindset and personality with a hands‑on can‑do attitude.
Able to develop, organize, and communicate clear objectives and metrics.
Capacity to communicate process updates, issues, etc., effectively with operators and team members.
A proactive and enterprising thinker able to switch tasks and prioritize projects as needed.
Attention to detail is critical.
Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Excellent planning, time management, and organization skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office and manufacturing environment.
Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.
May require heavy lifting.
Requires manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects.
Repetitive hand movements for tasks like assembly or packaging.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
Prolonged standing on hard surfaces during shift.
Walking to various stations or areas of the production floor.
Sitting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling motions.
Ability to handle small tools, parts, and machinery with precision.
Visual acuity for reading measurements, assembly instructions, and monitoring equipment.
Hearing ability to detect alarms, machinery sounds, or verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
Will be required to wear appropriate PPE as outlined by company safety protocols.
