Master Electrician – Wireless Services Position Overview Ridge Equipment Company, Inc. seeks a Master Electrician to lead electrical installations and oversight for wireless infrastructure projects. This role is critical to ensuring all electrical work is performed safely, meets code requirements, and supports reliable wireless operations. The ideal candidate combines extensive electrical expertise, master‑level certifications, and experience with telecommunications infrastructure to deliver high‑quality electrical solutions for complex wireless projects.
This position will split time between being on job sites and being in the office.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Installation and Supervision (Primary Focus):
Plan, coordinate, and execute electrical installations for wireless sites including power distribution, grounding systems, and backup power solutions
Design and implement electrical systems for cell towers, rooftops, and ground‑based wireless installations
Install and configure generators, UPS systems, battery backup systems, and power distribution units
Establish proper grounding and bonding systems in accordance with NEC, NESC, and industry standards
Supervise and inspect all electrical work performed by electricians and subcontractors
Review and approve electrical plans, load calculations, and one‑line diagrams
Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues on wireless sites
Perform electrical testing and commissioning of power systems
Code Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all electrical installations comply with Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and OSHA regulations
Obtain and manage electrical permits and coordinate inspections with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ)
Conduct thorough safety assessments of electrical systems and job sites
Lead electrical safety meetings and provide technical training to crew members
Enforce lockout/tagout procedures and arc flash safety protocols
Maintain compliance with utility company requirements and interconnection standards
Investigate electrical incidents and implement corrective actions
Technical Leadership:
Serve as the electrical subject matter expert for wireless installation projects
Mentor and train junior electricians and apprentices
Review vendor submittals and equipment specifications for electrical components
Provide technical guidance on electrical system design and troubleshooting
Coordinate with RF engineers, construction managers, and clients on electrical requirements
Evaluate and recommend electrical equipment and materials
Quality Control and Testing:
Conduct comprehensive electrical inspections and testing protocols
Perform megger testing, ground resistance testing, and continuity verification
Verify proper operation of surge protection devices and grounding systems
Document test results and maintain detailed electrical recordsEnsure installations meet carrier specifications and warranty requirements
Complete as‑built documentation for electrical systems
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with construction managers on project schedules and milestones
Coordinate utility connections and transformer installations
Manage material procurement for electrical components
Track electrical scope budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities
Generate electrical punch lists and coordinate final closeout
Client and Stakeholder Relations:
Interface with utility companies on service installations and upgrades
Communicate electrical requirements and status to clients and project teams
Address electrical concerns raised by property owners or site hosts
Represent the company during electrical inspections
Required Skills & Qualifications
Master Electrician License (state‑specific) – Required
Minimum 7 years of electrical experience, with at least 3 years in telecommunications or wireless infrastructure
Extensive knowledge of Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes
Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems including 3‑phase power
Proven ability to design, install, and troubleshoot backup power systems (generators, UPS, batteries)
Strong understanding of grounding and bonding for telecommunications equipment
Experience obtaining electrical permits and coordinating inspections
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
Proficiency with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, megging equipment, ground resistance testers)
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
High proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and documentation abilities
Physical ability to work on towers, rooftops, and in confined spaces
Qualifications
OSHA 30‑hour certification
Additional state electrical licenses (for multi‑state operations)
BICSI certifications (Technician, Installer 2, RCDD)
Tower climbing certification and experience
Experience with solar power integration for wireless sites
Knowledge of DC power systems and telecom rectifiers
Familiarity with carrier electrical standards (AT&T, Verizon, T‑Mobile, Crown Castle, American Tower)
Experience with fiber optic installations and associated electrical requirements
Arc flash training and NFPA 70E certification
Journeyman or Master Low Voltage Technician license
