In This Role, The Project Engineer Will Assist In
completing assessment of roadways and drainage structures
development of design plans for projects of varying complexity, ranging from pavement overlays to roundabout design
complete construction inspection of road and bridge projects
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assessment & Project Design – under supervision of a Project Manager (Professional Engineer):
Coordinate with clients to determine project needs
Complete on site investigation of roadway assets and develop recommendations for improvements
Develop design plans for roadway projects using AutoCAD and MicroStation
Assist in the preparation of quantities and cost estimates
Complete quality control reviews of construction plans, design calculations and other contract documents
Coordinate with contractors, utility companies and other stakeholders to discuss plans, specifications, and schedules
Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
Requirements Education and Experience
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply civil engineering fundaments to real-world projects
Ability to learn and interpret INDOT Design Manual and Standard Specifications
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
Licenses, Certifications
If an employee plans to use their own vehicle in the scope of their employment with Shrewsberry, they will be required to provide proof of insurance and a drivers license
Preferred Experience
Ability to become licensed Professional Engineer within 4 years
2+ years of experience in the inspection of civil heavy highway projects
Experience working on design of INDOT or Federally Funded LPA projects
