As an experienced Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment, helping our customers keep their vehicles on the road. You will be a respected lead at your location, set an example, mentor others, and work independently on major and minor repairs, including road tests to diagnose problems and complete maintenance tasks. We train you in Penske’s maintenance processes and cutting-edge technology, and provide the facilities, tools, and training to advance your career.
Main Responsibilities
Maintain and service vehicles to ensure safety and reliability for customers
Perform preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner
Repair and troubleshoot major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), including replacing assemblies and related parts
Keep the work area clean and safe
Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics
Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training
Work on additional projects as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
Specialized training/experience in diagnosis and troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training; ASE Certification; 608/609 certifications (preferred)
Experience with welding, diagnostic equipment, and hand/power tools
Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
Strong problem-solving and customer service/communication skills
Ability to work well in a team and independently
Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
Basic computer skills
Ability to comply with Penske safety, maintenance policies, and DOT/OSHA requirements
Regular, predictable attendance
Ability to drive Penske and customer vehicles and comply with DOT requirements; DOT drug screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review as applicable
Physical Requirements
Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
Manual dexterity to handle tools and controls
Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions
Vision and hearing adequate to navigate a busy work environment
Regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs
