Job Title: Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor – Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology Program)

The department is unique among the college’s 15 departments due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. Four undergraduate programs, three graduate programs (two distance education and one resident), 112 faculty (36 tenured/tenure‑track), 2,700+ undergraduate students and 250 graduate students. Faculty support approximately $14 million annually in applied and basic research, with research areas including embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor testing, intelligent product design, information technology management, human‑computer interaction, sales management, distribution operations, supply chain management and educational research. Qualifications
Earned doctorate in an appropriate engineering field or a closely related engineering or science discipline. Recent and relevant practical experience in applied research and technology development in advanced manufacturing systems (including design/modeling/control of manufacturing systems, cyber‑physical systems, applied AI, smart manufacturing and data‑driven discovery/optimization). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with industry or government entities such as national labs is preferred. Responsibilities
Full‑time tenure‑track appointment: 9‑month academic appointment, possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds. The successful applicant will teach at the graduate and undergraduate level, advise and mentor graduate students, develop an independent, externally funded research program, participate in all aspects of departmental activities, and serve the university, college, department and profession.
