Electrical and Instrumentation Technician
Akkodis is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician – Greensboro, NC - Onsite for a 2-month contract with a client in Greensboro, NC.
Rate Range: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Weekend shift: 7 AM – 7 PM and 7 PM – 7 AM – 24 hrs weekly.
Position Summary The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician will support production by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and instrumentation systems in a high-speed manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical expertise in power, controls, automation systems, and instrumentation calibration. The E&I Technician will work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and enhance system performance.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation issues on high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on power, control, and automation systems.
Calibrate, test, and document key process instruments to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Diagnose electrical problems using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
Program, troubleshoot, and monitor PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo control systems.
Work with hardware systems including communication networks, sensors, ABB robots, safety curtains, pneumatic systems, and Cognex cameras.
Lead or contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and breakdown investigations for electrical issues.
Support small‑scale electrical projects using change control and validation processes.
Maintain detailed electronic documentation of equipment adjustments, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive improvements in equipment reliability and system performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance or related field.
Prior experience as an E&I Technician, PC&IS Technician, or Maintenance Electrician preferred.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Experience with VFDs, servo systems, sensors, communication networks, ABB robots, and machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex).
Knowledge of pneumatic circuits, code daters/printers, and industrial safety systems.
Familiarity with cGMP standards and regulated manufacturing environments.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic documentation software.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and flexible schedules.
Preferred Attributes
Demonstrated electrical mastery — ability to coach, troubleshoot, and improve plant electrical systems.
Strong root cause analysis (RCA) and problem‑solving skills.
Proven self‑starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
