Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world. This position supports manufacturing and operations of CELCOR products, delivering process improvements and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
Deliver manufacturing process improvements. Support daily operations by troubleshooting and solving manufacturing process issues, driving continuous improvement and cost reduction. Apply technical knowledge and practices to accomplish technical assignments and projects. Support and lead projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in direct support of manufacturing and operations of CELCOR products. Develop project plans, timelines, and cost estimates for process improvements to meet manufacturing and operations objectives. Design and execute experiments, testing hypotheses to advance fundamental understanding. Interface with operators, rotation leaders, and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, Lean, 5S, or safety improvements into manufacturing. Manufacturing problem solving as needed in support of operations, including root cause identification and resolution. Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges. Support new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training. Train operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes. Build detailed technical understanding for key process steps and ensure quality and repeatability of processes and products. Assure safety of operators and equipment and comply with safety and environmental regulations. Develop SME knowledge of material, process, and equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering. Execute cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives. Qualifications
Experiences/Education - Required
BS or MS in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical preferred) 0-3 years of engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma principles Aptitude for root cause analysis and step-change improvements in manufacturing Project leadership aptitude and ability to achieve results through teams Strong technical problem-solving, decision-making, and data analysis skills Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (formulas and graphing) Demonstrated leadership or teamwork in achieving goals Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology Experiences/Education - Desired
Six Sigma Green Belt trained Demonstrated technical expertise in process improvement, measurement, or ceramics processing This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $69,791.00 - $95,963.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay depends on a variety of factors including location, market demand, experience, training, and education.
