Every day, great people at KIPP prove the possible. KIPP St. Louis Teachers Assistants provide classroom support and small group instructional care to students. Teacher Aides assist and support the teacher(s) in implementing an instructional and care program to promote academic achievement and personal development in Kindergarten classrooms. Teacher’s Aides typically assist in one classroom during core instruction and lead teach one block of content each day. Responsibilities

Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students and teachers based on trust and respect Provides instructional support within the special education and general education classroom as needed to meet students’ needs Assists in delivering quality instruction/lessons created by teachers Communicates high expectations for behavior by teaching, practicing and reinforcing rules and consequences Approaches practice with a sense of urgency, maximizing every minute Maintains accurate and up-to-date records Assumes responsibility for student achievement Provides feedback to teachers about students’ progress and needs Constant Learning

Consistently reflects on instructional practices through formal and informal methods and works to meet individual and professional development goals Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines and honoring schedules Works to become knowledgeable about best practices in working with students with learning disabilities and challenging behavior Collaborates with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor Embraces feedback and constructive criticism in the spirit of constant improvement Academic and Cultural Support

Participates actively in developing and following through with individualized learning plans and behavior plans for students Assists in the daily functioning of the school as necessary Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture

Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress Effectively learn how to supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences and more Demonstrate a Growth Mindset

Pursue challenging professional goals each year Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with colleagues Participate in school-wide and individual professional development Other Essential Functions

Performs other duties relative to the overall operations of KIPP St. Louis Public Schools as assigned Escorts, assists, and/or supervises students during play periods and movement throughout the building Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and 60 hours of college credit Substitute Teaching Certification Required (or willing to get ASAP) Experience working with students Strong organizational and time management skills Able to accept and implement professional feedback Additional Information
