Overview
Medical Assistant (MA, EMT) - Cardiology at Hartford HealthCare. Location: 51 Main St. Old Saybrook (10388). Shift: Mon-Fri.
Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is one of the largest medical practices in New England with multiple locations throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. Our team includes Medical Assistants, Physician Assistants and other professionals, offering primary care, urgent care and more than 30 specialties. This role provides basic clinical and clerical support within the Medical Assistant scope of education, with continued training in all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.
Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care under the direction of a provider, including vitals, allergy/medical reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives and virtual health.
Provides indirect patient care related to scheduling, check-in/out, referrals, chart preparation and prior authorizations. Conducts point-of-care testing including quality control and documentation.
Performs administrative duties and covers front desk based on business needs.
Floats to other offices based on business needs.
Qualifications
Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR related experience.
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
All required credentials maintained throughout employment.
Experience
At least one year of direct patient care experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office; EPIC EMR experience; Cardiology experience preferred.
Occasional travel to Marlborough and Middletown locations may be required to collaborate across teams.
