Job Overview The Clinical Coordinator is responsible to assist the MLS Program Director and Educators in instruction, development, coordination, and practice of student laboratory activities and clinical practice courses in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Urinalysis. The coordinator ensures continuity of instruction from the didactic to the clinical component. The coordinator oversees and monitors the students clinical practice experience through communication and visits for each rotation, discusses program expectations with trainers or the supervisor in charge, and ensures all documentation is completed. Additional responsibilities include staying current with clinical practice and testing in the clinical laboratory, ASCP and NAACLS requirements, curriculum development, student performance and advisement, participation in policy development and program evaluation, and professional service.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in Medical Laboratory Science
Certified Medical Laboratory Professional, preferably ASCP; AMT will be considered
Minimum of two years of clinical training experience
A minimum of three years of full-time employment as an MT or MLS
Evidence of ongoing professional development

Essential Functions
Demonstrates effective communication in verbal, nonverbal, and written forms; uses active listening and appropriate questioning techniques
Maintains subject matter expertise and stays current with changing practices in Medical Laboratory Science
Disseminates information to Medical Laboratory Science students related to education and training
Evaluates clinical practice coursework, training and learning materials, and adapts training based on feedback
Visits each clinical site per rotation to coordinate training materials and ensure a successful student experience
Evaluates teaching effectiveness and provides suggestions to clinical staff
Ensures development, implementation, evaluation, and updates of courses per NAACLS/ASCP standards and hospital policy
Prepares and maintains coursework, documents, and student records in a timely and accurate manner
Performs other tasks as designated by the Program Director
