Position open in the Cambridge/Boston area. The Environmental Specialist provides onsite environmental services at client facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations during all phases of storage, transportation, and disposal.

Job Description This role ensures that the client is compliant with environmental, health, and safety regulations during all phases of storage, transportation, and disposal services. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal regulations.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Veolia Health & Safety practices.

Collect and transport waste materials from customer sites to storage locations, ensuring proper identification and packaging.

Perform inspections of satellite accumulation areas (SAA), main or central accumulation areas (MAA/CAA), safety equipment, spill response equipment, and vehicles.

Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of federal/state waste documents and managing paperwork.

Safely handle hazardous waste containers on client sites and load/unload waste from vehicles.

Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients.

Deliver exceptional customer service, providing outstanding support and innovative solutions.

Develop expertise in state and federal regulations to ensure client compliance (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA).

Conduct spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup.

Become familiar with DOT/EPA and VES-TS regulations required for expedited disposal of hazardous waste.

Qualifications Education / Experience / Background

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous‑waste industry, or relevant military experience.

Prior relevant industry experience.

Prior successful experience in a customer service role.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies for positive outcomes.

Skilled at building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues.

Willingness and ability to work overtime and flexible hours within the work week (Monday‑Friday).

Ability to complete a 2‑to‑3‑year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management.

Prepared to handle hazardous chemicals and biological waste, including PPE usage; role is safety sensitive.

Reliable transportation required.

Willingness to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screen (incl. THC).

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

Participation in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) upon employment.

Active HAZWOPER 24‑ or 40‑hour certification.

Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
