As a Histotechnologist, you will deliver high-quality slides for microscopic examination, including tissue fixation, dehydration, sectioning, mounting, and special staining. Your work is critical to diagnosis and treatment, positively impacting patient care.

A caregiver in this position works days from 3:00AM – 11:30AM.

A successful candidate will:

Transport tissue specimens to the Laboratory.

Perform immunohistochemical and in-situ hybridization procedures, including handling and storage of probes and antibodies.

Analyze and evaluate assays for sensitivity and specificity.

Embed and prepare sections by cutting frozen or paraffin-embedded tissue for various procedures.

Mount, label, and distribute prepared slides for interpretation.

Prepare reagents, buffers, solutions, and stains.

Replace reagents and perform daily maintenance on automated instrumentation.

File surgical and autopsy blocks used for immunohistochemical techniques.

Minimum qualifications include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field OR meet CLIA qualifications for Histotechnologist (HTL).

Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) Certification by ASCP.

Knowledge of OSHA requirements concerning chemical hygiene and bloodborne pathogens.

Preferred qualifications include:

Hands-on laboratory experience from an accredited Histotechnology School or one year of prior Histology Laboratory experience.

Physical requirements include manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to handle potentially hazardous materials safely. Standard precautions and PPE are required.
