Progeny Human Resource Solutions The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician reports to the Cath Lab Coordinator and is responsible for assisting physicians during cardiac cath lab procedures, pacemaker/ICD insertions, Interventional Radiology and other miscellaneous procedures by operating the physiologic / hemodynamic monitoring computer and/or scrubbing for invasive cardiac and vascular procedures. Responsibilities include: Provides patient care to adult and geriatric patients. Prepares patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites and administering contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Assists physician with performing diagnostic and vascular interventional procedures. Reviews results and takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues. Prepares equipment and supplies including sterile trays. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Assists with clerical and non-technical duties necessary to department operations. Job Qualifications: Must possess one (1) of the following required certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Prior experience with general vascular and/or coronary angiography. Thorough knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia interpretation and cardiac anatomy. Prior IR experience a plus. RCIS certification required within 24 months of hire. This is a
