Job Summary Medical Radiographer-MRI. Read and interpret requests and instructions of physicians concerning MRI examination techniques. Determine body regions and projections to be undertaken, greet patients, explain procedures, and reassure anxious and distressed patients. Guide and position patients before and during examinations to obtain the required views. Operate MRI equipment by setting controls and making adjustments as directed by physicians to procure the required images. Receive supervision from Senior MRI Technologist, including orientation, advice on procedures, and performance checks. Other responsibilities include supervising junior and student technologists and performing quality control of MRI examinations.

Additional Responsibilities

Orientation of new technologists and maintaining staff competencies.

Assist staff technologists with routine or special views, uncooperative patients, or family interactions.

Coordinate patient flow and review schedules for efficiency.

Report equipment malfunctions.

Train radiographic students in equipment use and maintenance.

Deal ethically and courteously with patients, personnel, and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.

NYS license/registration (must obtain within 6 months of receiving limited permit).

ARRT certification (must obtain within 1 year of appointment).

One year experience as a radiologic technologist.

Current CPR-BLS certification.

Registration for Contrast Injection required (must obtain within 3 months).

Preferred Qualifications Work days and hours to be determined; may include weekends and holidays; overtime may be required depending on departmental needs.
