The Respiratory Therapist - PFT provides diagnostic evaluation of pulmonary function in patients with respiratory insufficiencies. This role applies scientific knowledge, technical expertise and theory to practical clinical problems and is often required to exercise clinical judgment. Job Details: Schedule: Full time (Monday-Friday) Hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Location: Milwaukee Main campus or at one of our clinic sites Assist at other clinics as needed to fill in for sick calls or vacation. Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 for external candidates Licenses and Certifications: Current state licensure by the State of Wisconsin as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed Practitioner – Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required. Must obtain the NBRC specialty credential, Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), within 3 years of hire and remain current with credential. Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required. Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) training is required within 12 months. Education: Associate degree from a respiratory therapy education program supported or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Experience: Minimum one year experience in spirometry testing, lung volume testing, diffusing capacity testing, cardiopulmonary stress testing, and lung compliance testing required OR 5 years working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in an acute care setting OR 2 years working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in a critical care setting Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect Children’s values and support our mission and vision. Acts as a team member and collaborates with the health care team to assure a team approach which provides efficient patient care practices. Communicates and collaborates effectively in a timely manner. Provides constructive feedback to peers, resolves conflicts and issues in a timely manner and refers issues to appropriate management as necessary. Knowledge of cardio-pulmonary diseases of patients. Must possess analytical skills necessary to resolve complex clinical problems relating to pulmonary function issues and patient safety and welfare. Demonstrates an understanding of the underlying principles of the physiologic measurements. Ability to work independently and utilize time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to cope with physically and mentally stressful situations. Interpersonal skills which frequently involve collaborating with peers, supervisors and medical staff on issues in order to accomplish objectives for patient care.
