Responsibilities
Interview patients to obtain vital statistics, medical history, and records information.
Record blood pressure, observe patient condition, and use monitoring equipment to identify indicators of positive tests or other complications.
Perform pulse oximetry, adapting methods and testing parameters for various age groups.
Monitor and record heart activity using telemetry while the patient undergoes exercise on rehabilitation equipment, under physician supervision.
Assess body composition using scale, tape measure, skinfold calipers, or other techniques.
Explain program and test procedures to patients.
Develop proficiency in operating exercise testing systems.
Evaluate patients’ overall health with special attention to cardiovascular function and metabolism.
Design individualized exercise plans based on patients’ needs and goals.
Advise patients about nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens.
Teach patient education and behavior modification classes.
Follow department procedures for responding to cardiac arrests.
Attend and participate in educational programs, in‑service meetings, workshops, and other activities related to job performance and job knowledge.
Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.
Education / Experience / Training
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science.
Successful passage of the Basic Arrhythmia Program or a challenge exam within 3 months of position.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Previous experience in adult fitness or cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as a clinical resource for cardiac rehabilitation staff.
Assist management in planning, developing, and organizing the specified clinical specialty area.
Develop and conduct therapeutic exercise sessions for cardiac rehabilitation participants.
Schedule Details
24 hours per week, non‑rotating – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
No weekends or holidays.
Location
Massachusetts – Hyannis.
Organization: Cape Cod Hospital, Cardiac Rehabilitation Department.
