The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Regional Wildlife Biologist – Diversity (Nongame) for the Upper Snake Regional Office in Idaho Falls. This role focuses on implementing Idaho’s State Wildlife Action Plan and managing wildlife surveys and habitat programs. Why IDFG?

This opening is for the Regional Wildlife Biologist – Diversity (Nongame) in Idaho Falls only. Applications received under any other announcement for Regional Wildlife Biologist will not be considered. Positions may require riding fixed‑wing aircraft and helicopters, walking and backpacking for several hours, operating trail bikes, and riding horses in rugged terrain. Activities may involve handling unrestrained wild animals and working in extreme weather conditions; lifting and carrying up to 65 pounds. Primary Responsibilities

Lead local implementation of Idaho’s State Wildlife Action Plan and contribute to larger‑scale programmatic priorities. Coordinate, design, and conduct wildlife surveys with an emphasis on species of greatest conservation need. Act as the regional point of contact for on‑the‑ground delivery of priority State Wildlife Action Plan objectives, including habitat management or restoration projects. Collaborate with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other partners on federally threatened species management. Work with regional staff to implement big game, upland game, waterfowl, furbearer, nongame, and habitat management programs. General Responsibilities

Review environmental assessment reports and impact statements affecting wildlife populations and habitats. Monitor wildlife movements and activities. Analyze wildlife population and habitat data and write reports. Supervise and train employees in wildlife data collection. Participate in public meetings and hearings on wildlife regulations. Design and implement wildlife population and habitat data collection programs. Evaluate and report on land and water acquisitions. Develop relationships with private landowners, write plans, and implement projects on private lands. Respond to complaints regarding wildlife depredations. Conduct public outreach activities. Minimum Qualifications

Willingness to participate in and instruct hunting activities. Knowledge of forest, range or agricultural wildlife habitat (six months of professional field work or two college‑level courses). Experience developing, evaluating, or implementing management plans, hunting regulations or species management plans. Good knowledge of wildlife ecology, habitat requirements, taxonomy, and population dynamics (six years of field work or bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework). Experience conducting wildlife field research (design, collection, analysis of wildlife data). Valid driver’s license. Contact Information
