Position Overview The Assembler I plays a crucial role in the assembly of component parts for rail communications equipment. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and/or Team Leader. Responsibilities include assembling component parts using assembly prints and the Bill of Materials (BOM). Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure proficiency in all assembly tasks.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

Knowledge and awareness of ESD (Electro‑Static Discharge) environment.

Select components such as transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, and integrated circuits to populate PCBs.

Twist, bend, trim component leads using hand tools.

Solder wire leads and joints on underside of board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to board and between individual components.

Proficient at soldering through‑hole components into circuit boards.

Surface mount experience necessary.

Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.

Utilize handheld and power tools such as screwdrivers and hand‑drill.

Work with Quality department to ensure the product meets quality standards.

Wire crimping, stripping, and soldering.

Perform 5S activities and maintain equipment in proper working order, and improve work area cleanliness.

Perform work in a safe and healthy manner; ensure deviations to standard work instructions that will lead to quality, productivity, or safety problems are immediately identified.

Identify and communicate ideas to team leaders that support improving the team’s performance and the elimination of waste.

Participate in process improvement activities.

Support other assembly teams when required.

Display professional conduct with customers and coworkers.

Attend training sessions as needed or required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1+ years previous electro‑mechanical assembly experience.

Basic soldering experience.

Basic computer skills required.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Basic math skills.

Problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Experience

Minimum of one‑year electronic manufacturing experience preferred.

Electronic component‑level soldering skills for PCB assembly.

IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑J‑STD‑001, or IPC‑A‑620 knowledge.

Location and Salary New Kensington, PA – Base salary range for this position in Munhall, PA is $16.40 /hr to $21.30 /hr.
