We are currently seeking a Full‑time Plant Engineer to support the Texas City, TX ASU enclave. The role is based at the ASU and entails day‑to‑day technical support focused on plant improvements, process safety, and consistency. The engineer will collaborate with Safety & Environmental Services, Maintenance, Reliability, Project Engineering, Productivity, Process Controls, Process Safety, and operating teams at other ASU facilities. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and requires M‑F availability with off‑hour and weekend support, including both remote and onsite presence.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide process safety stewardship in operating procedures, manuals, safety systems, management of change, pre‑startup safety reviews, PHA, incident investigations, audits, alert compliance, operations training, alarm management, P&ID updates, and action item follow‑up.
Lead plant startups/shutdowns and support plant turnaround planning and execution.
Lead and assist in ISO 9000 quality assurance training and system management.
Champion the management of change (MOC) program.
Champion and promote productivity initiatives including Six Sigma and cost reduction.
Monitor plant efficiency, KPIs, and alarm management program.
Assist plant operations with basic personnel safety fundamentals (safety meetings, ACMS, HWC, HWP, CSE).
Troubleshoot equipment problems and implement solutions.
Champion and promote a strong safety culture.
Assist in developing and delivering process training.
Provide technical expertise to plant operators and maintenance technicians.
Propose and execute small capital projects.
Assist plant manager with project spend forecasting and reconciliation.
Lead or participate in incident investigations (RCA/RCI).
Assist plant operations with CMMS compliance.
Lead or participate in cross‑functional teams.
Conduct equipment analyses and pressure‑drop surveys.
Participate in reviews and maintain a working knowledge of SOPs, SOPS, site‑specific OPs, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
BS (or MS) plus at least 1 year of experience in an engineering role, preferably in an industrial environment.
Strong technical skills in process safety procedures (PHA, MOC, RCA).
Hands‑on work preference and strong communication skills.
Adaptability to changing situations, strong relationship building across departments.
Ability and willingness to work flexible, extended periods in a plant environment, including confined spaces.
Self‑starter with ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.
Willingness to carry laptop and cell phone for off‑hour use.
Strong prioritization, issue resolution, and results orientation.
Detail‑oriented and persistent.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
