Overview

The Fleet Mechanic role at Numericable involves maintaining vehicle and equipment by performing inspections, preventive maintenance, correcting deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping accurate records. The position reports to the Fleet Manager and is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities while upholding safety objectives and company processes. Essential Job Functions

Work on construction vehicle/equipment as needed Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts Keep vehicle/equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; install component and part upgrades; control corrosion; complete winterization procedures Correct vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems (e.g., power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics); perform machine shop operations; make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units Verify vehicle/equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjust controls and systems Comply with federal and state vehicle/equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards Maintain vehicle/equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs Keep shop vehicle/equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt What’s In It For You?

Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day, standing and walking for extended periods, loading/unloading equipment, and lifting at least 50 pounds Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds Operating hand/power tools; manual dexterity for keyboards and smartphones; physical agility for repetitive movements Working outdoors and safely in adverse environmental and weather conditions with exposure to high-speed traffic areas and construction equipment Awareness of surroundings on construction sites and safe placement of machinery and equipment Vision and hearing adequate to read signs, manuals, reports, and hear instructions and commands Clear written and verbal communication; ability to complete daily paperwork as required Flexible schedule, including possible day/night shifts, weekends, holidays; ability to work overtime and collaborate with others Valid driver’s license; passing MVR and controlled substance tests; background and criminal history checks as required Must meet company standards post-employment for background checks and drug testing Computer literacy Ability to create accountability and lead by example Strong team-building, decision-making, and people-management skills High School Diploma or Equivalent Seniority level
