Senior Thin Films Process Engineer
to lead development, optimization, and sustaining efforts for thin film deposition processes in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maximizing yield, improving process capability, and resolving complex fabrication issues through structured problem‑solving and multi‑functional collaboration. You will work with tools, wafer recipes, and process flows to ensure product performance and reliability, while driving cost reduction and equipment efficiency. Expertise in LPCVD, PECVD, and PVD processes, along with hands‑on experience with Applied Materials, LAM, and TEL tools, is essential.
Responsibilities
Establish and improve thin film process conditions and technologies to enhance yield and reduce cost.
Set up and manage process parameters across a variety of semiconductor equipment.
Troubleshoot wafer fabrication problems and perform root cause analysis using structured methodologies.
Conduct long‑term defect investigations and collaborate with shift engineering and other process areas.
Evaluate products to ensure they meet design and performance specifications.
Lead process management projects and promote new equipment and material evaluations.
Conduct research to assess process adjustments and recommend improvements or equipment changes.
Perform abnormal analysis and implement corrective actions to improve process stability.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of development/HVM experience in LPCVD, PECVD, and PVD processes using Applied Materials, LAM, and TEL or similar tools.
Proficiency in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing and thin films process & equipment support.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of development/HVM experience in LPCVD, PECVD, and PVD processes using Applied Materials, LAM, ULVAC, and TEL tools (or Master’s + 3 years).
Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) using JMP and crafting SWRs to optimize yield and reliability. Experience with characterization techniques such as SEM, EDX, and TEM. Knowledge of traveler flow and structure.
Ability to support up to 20% domestic/international travel. Willing to work first shift and support nights and weekends, as needed. Bilingual English/Mandarin is a plus!
