Job Description
Albany Engineered Composites is seeking Composite Technicians at all levels to support essential services in the defense and aerospace industry. Join our fun, fast‑paced, state‑of‑the‑art facility and develop your career working on advanced composite structures. Responsibilities
Lay‑up, braiding, or filament wind composite materials according to customer and company specifications. Bond a variety of materials (composite, metal, or laminate) into semi‑finished or finished products. Operate laser or pattern cutters and assist with cutting and kitting materials. Use measuring instruments to complete lay‑ups per shop orders, blueprints, or laser projector. Sanding, burring, and smoothing over areas; apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges. Vacuum bag basic shapes and sizes. Operate autoclaves, hydraulic presses, and ovens; assist in loading them using forklifts, cranes, or carts. Repair composite, metal, or laminate bonded products per inspection and rework instructions. Monitor and verify the quality of finished products. Identify different process materials, pre‑regs, adhesives, and resins. Maintain regular, reliable attendance. Shift
Evening shift: Monday‑Thursday, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM. Experience, Education, and Skills
High School Diploma or GED required. L2 Technician : 2‑3 years of hand‑layup aircraft composite experience. Must understand ply orientation, defect types (porosity, voids, wrinkles), and bagging processes. L3 Technician : 4‑5 years of hand‑layup aircraft composite experience. Must appreciate part/process/material complexities, out‑life management, multiple resin systems, core ply lay‑over, NDI and inspection processes, safety considerations, and be a US person authorized to work.
