Overview TRC is a global consulting firm providing environmentally advanced and technology‑powered solutions for the oil and gas, power, and infrastructure industries. Our assignments include small and medium‑sized bridges, culverts, railroad grade separations, viaducts, and major water crossings in both rural and urban environments. TRC is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector IV to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) Practice across North Carolina, supporting projects in Hoke, Lee, Moore, Richmond, and Scotland counties in NC. This position will report to our client’s Aberdeen District Office.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Lead Project Inspector providing general project oversight and direct communication with contractors and NCDOT representatives.

Supervise and mentor lower‑level technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.

Oversee inspection and testing activities, review field documentation, and ensure work conforms to NCDOT standards.

Coordinate daily activities, maintain project records, and assist in resolving field issues.

Highway and Roadway Construction Inspection.

Bridge and Structural Inspection.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum seven (7) years of relevant transportation construction inspection experience.

Proven experience leading or overseeing field inspection teams.

Strong knowledge of NCDOT Construction Manual, Standard Specifications, and Materials Testing Procedures.

Required Certifications / Qualifications (or Willingness To Obtain)

NCDOT Concrete Field Technician

NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician

NCDOT Conventional Density Technician

NCDOT ABC Sampling Technician

NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling Technician

NCDOT Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater Certification

Compensation In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

USD $36.00 – USD $47.00 /hr.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the company’s annual discretionary bonus program, contingent on company, business segment, and individual performance against key performance indicators which vary by year and employee.
