Pay Range: $26.00 to $30.00 per hour

Summary Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual also minimizes downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.

Responsibilities

Good analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and make on the spot corrections to emergency conditions.

Climb stairs and ladders and work safely at elevated heights of 200 ft. and in confined spaces.

Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, pneumatics, welding, and cutting.

Light Industrial Electric required, Hydraulics, Power Transmissions, and Pneumatic; basic computer knowledge; previous feed mill experience desired.

Additional Responsibilities

Special projects and/or other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of:

Safety, inventory and maintenance processes and procedures

Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus

Technical and mechanical systems related to operation

Ability to:

Maintain high quality control standards; effectively problem-solve, supervise and troubleshoot.

Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Evaluate employees fairly and objectively.

Work flexible hours; on-call availability, O.T., and rotating weekends.

Experience and Training Guidelines

College coursework in technical field desired.

Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or a production environment.

MS Office – Excel, Word.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Occasional use of keyboard.

Frequent sitting for long periods of time.

Occasional bending or squatting.

Constant use of vision; frequent reading.

Frequent decision-making and concentration.

Frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone.

Frequent exposure to noise.

Frequent reading and close-up work.

Occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.

Skills Hand Tools: Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.

Equipment Manual comprehensions: Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance, service, or operation. Follow Instructions: Reads instructions / labels and performs work as assigned by department supervisor or lead.

Working Conditions Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment subject to street or field noise and environment including exposure to loud equipment and machinery. Some duties involve working in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. The position may require work outside regular business hours, including weekends, holidays and on-call; occasional travel to other company locations.
