Job Description Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Welder II will be responsible for performing TIG and MIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless‑steel components, producing high‑quality welds that meet engineering specifications and industry standards. The role also involves training Welder I employees, monitoring production, and maintaining production records in Epicor.

Responsibilities

TIG/MIG Welding: Perform welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless‑steel materials with precise heat control and filler metal.

Weld Preparation: Clean and prepare aluminum surfaces, removing contaminants that could affect weld quality.

Material Inspection: Verify integrity of materials before welding to ensure quality standards.

Welding Parameters: Set up and adjust welding equipment, selecting appropriate torch, gas flow, and amperage.

Weld Quality Control: Inspect finished welds for defects using visual inspection and NDT methods as required.

Welding Joints: Work with butt, lap, and fillet weld configurations per project specifications.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while welding.

Material Handling: Safely handle and move materials during welding.

Training: Assist in training and mentoring Welder I employees.

Production Monitoring: Maintain workflow, address deviations, and report daily production metrics; understand job orders and interact with Epicor.

Documentation: Record production data, machine settings, and maintenance activities in Epicor.

Collaboration: Work with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel to meet project timelines.

Process Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance efficiency while maintaining quality.

Procedure Execution: Read, comprehend, and execute processes and procedures per SOPs.

Equipment Maintenance: Operate, troubleshoot, and conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment.

Miscellaneous: Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

More than 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum to produce high‑quality welds.

Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings.

Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).

Basic knowledge of shop safety procedures and PPE usage.

Capability to work under supervision and follow instructions.

Experience welding components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

Ability to assess welded surfaces and identify defects.

Strong measuring skills and weld quality inspection.

Reading, writing, and comprehension of plant directives in English.

Additional Qualifications

Basic welding course or vocational training program completion.

Ability to perform simple mathematics for process sheets, SOPs, and tally sheets.

Physical strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds intermittently; frequent lifting, standing, bending, and reaching required.

Successfully pass a pre‑employment physical and drug test.
