Summary:

The

Quality Engineer

is responsible for strategizing, implementing, and supporting activities to uphold and enhance Dover Precision Components' quality system, ensuring that products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. They play a critical role in monitoring and improving manufacturing and engineering processes, developing testing methods, analyzing parts and data, and implementing changes to enhance quality. The Quality Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and sales to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring that products meet customer expectations and company standards, and has a pivotal role leading root cause analysis, implementing quality strategy at the site level, supporting quality-related audits, and supplier quality assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:

Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure product quality and consistency.

Conduct audits, tests, and inspections throughout production, globally, to identify defects or areas for improvement.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality guidelines.

Conduct supplier audits and provide support to manufacturing site audits by customers.

Develop and implement quality control plans to assist in achieving higher levels of quality from start to finish and ensure product reliability and consistency for strategic projects.

Develops and maintains the validation and verification strategy for new and existing products and processes.

Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis:

Investigate product and process failures to recommend corrective actions using root cause analysis methods (i.e. Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, 8D, 4D, Fast, etc.).

Collaborates with engineering, sales, and production teams to develop solutions to quality-related issues.

Implement corrective and preventative actions and conducts audits to confirm the sites’ quality management system effectiveness.

Leads complex Design of Experiments (DOE) projects to validate manufacturing processes and replicate failure modes.

Identifies opportunities to improve manufacturing and quality processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Participates in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Provides support to Director of Quality and Quality Manager to develop, track, and report quality metrics (KPIs) and use them to make data-driven decisions.

Drive continuous improvement efforts by facilitating PFMEAs and DFMEAs, quality circles, and other lean initiatives.

Leads and supports continuous improvement activities; collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturing processes to stabilize or increase process capabilities.

Documentation and Reporting:

Assists with and/or prepares reports for customers, internal and external quality audits, and management on quality issues, action plans, and improvement projects.

Provides plant support to maintain compliance with regulatory organizations (i.e. ISO) through documentation and audits of documentation.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or similar fields of study.

5+ years' work experience in an electronic product manufacturing environment, Engineer-to-Order or Manufacture-to-Order, is required.

Certification in Quality (i.e. Six Sigma, CQE, etc.) is preferred.

Strong understanding and application of engineering principles and design practices is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Office and manufacturing environment. Must be willing to travel to customers, end users, conferences and other DPC sites (10-15%).
