Foreman (Project Management) Position Title: Foreman Reports To: Project Management Department: Field FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Compensation & Benefits: The anticipated pay range for this position is $22.00/ per hour -$32.00/ per hour. Position Summary Step into a leadership role where your experience, drive, and decision-making make an immediate impact. As a Foreman overseeing underground utility line installations, you take full ownership of job site performance—from crew management to safety compliance and project execution. You lead by example, work with integrity, and bring out the best in your team to deliver quality results on every job. Employees must maintain compliance with all company policies, federal and state labor laws, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and affirmative action program requirements.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Lead daily field operations for underground utility projects, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecom lines.

Direct and supervise crews on equipment operation, utility placement, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration.

Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and utility maps to ensure accurate and compliant installations.

Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and utility locators to keep projects moving efficiently.

Enforce job site safety—upholding OSHA regulations and company standards without compromise.

Operate and inspect machinery and tools to ensure proper use and safe working conditions.

Track materials, crew hours, and job progress, providing clear updates and proactive solutions to challenges.

Mentor team members—train, coach, and develop the next generation of skilled utility operators.

Maintain a clean, organized, and productive job site.

Uphold company values of accountability, respect, and craftsmanship on every project.

Operate construction equipment/vehicles safely in compliance with DOT regulations (49 CFR Part 391 and related rules).

Perform construction-related duties such as underground utility installation, excavation, and fiber installation.

Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports (DOT driver logs, daily equipment inspections, OSHA safety reports, etc.).

Adhere to all site safety protocols and report hazards immediately.

Attend and complete mandatory OSHA, safety, and compliance training.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA requirements.

Familiarity with DOT and CDL driver qualification requirements.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow company compliance policies.

OSHA 10/30, trench safety, or confined space certification.

Experience with GPS, GIS, or digital field tracking systems.

Multi-utility experience (water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic).

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

3+ years of underground utility experience, with 1+ years in a leadership or foreman role.

Strong knowledge of trench safety, utility installation practices, and job site logistics.

Proficiency reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Valid driver's license (CDL and Class A with Air Brakes preferred or obtainable within 90 days—support provided).

Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and DOT physical (if applicable).

Hands‑on experience operating excavation equipment (excavators, trenchers, drills, etc.).

Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and team leadership skills.

Able to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.

Willing to work extended hours as needed—expect 50‑60 hours/week in peak season, 30‑40 in off‑season.

Willingness to sign and abide by a company confidentiality agreement (NDA).

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, and operating heavy equipment.

Must be able to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA.
