East High School

– The Boys Associate Head Wrestling Coach will oversee the Boys Wrestling Program and instruct the varsity high school boys wrestling team. They are responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the mat. Employment Type:

Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise the boys wrestling program coaching staff, including Assistant/JV

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee training of wrestlers in conjunction with the other coaches.

Develop training plans for wrestlers in conjunction with the other coaches.

Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games as directed by the Director of Athletics and Operations.

Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches.

Attend and coach at all practices.

Attend and coach at all matches.

Assist other coaches in monitoring team members’ practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance and grades

Assist other coaches in enforcing team policies.

Responsible for providing kids feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior and team skills.

Manage program budget organize fundraising efforts for the wrestling program

Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Director of Athletics and Operations.

Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the wrestling program

Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for wrestling by the 2025/2026 winter sports season.

In conjunction with the Wrestling Program Head, they will determine day-to-day operational job duties

Qualifications

Knowledge of instructional techniques for wrestling.

Successful completion of an approved coach’s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license.

Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.

Valid teaching license. Successful completion of an approved coach’s education course or ability to complete such a course prior to starting a second season.

Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population.

Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student athletes, and parents.

Competitive experience in wrestling at the high school level.

Previous coaching experience with preference given to those with prior experience in wrestling.

Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement a developmentally appropriate program for student in wrestling.

Evidence of knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes from members of the boys wrestling team.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and supervise athletic teams at this designated level with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility and safety.

Preferred: Valid teaching license

Preferred: College playing/coaching experience

Preferred: Demonstrated ability to successfully implement wrestling systems in a high school setting

Length of Work WIAA 2025/2026 Winter Sports Season

Working Conditions Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time while coaching at practices and games.
