We are seeking a
Structural Steel Project Manager
to oversee the full lifecycle of complex steel fabrication projects—from engineering review through production, delivery, and on-site erection. The company is a long-established fabricator serving commercial, industrial, civic, cultural, and data center markets, offering stable workload, growth opportunity, and a strong backlog of large-scale structural projects.
Key Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of
Direct structural steel project management experience
in commercial or industrial construction.
Proven ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and translate specifications into fabrication and field execution.
Skilled at managing production schedules, coordinating delivery and erection, and maintaining progress under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated success resolving field and design issues, managing RFIs and change orders, and maintaining project scope and profitability.
Experienced in job costing, contract documentation, and budget tracking.
Strong communication and coordination skills with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
Manage projects from award through closeout, including engineering coordination, detailing, fabrication, and site installation.
Oversee all cost, schedule, and quality objectives for assigned steel projects.
Lead coordination meetings and maintain alignment across production, logistics, and erection teams.
Evaluate contract terms, submittals, and fabrication drawings to ensure technical and commercial compliance.
Support estimating and business development by reviewing bid documents and providing technical insight.

Crystal Steel Fabricators, Inc., has an opening for a Project Manager to support our structural steel projects in the Mid-Atlantic and/or Southeast regions. This person will be part of a project management team and ideally will work out of either our Federalsburg, MD, Delmar, DE, or Gallaway (Memphis), TN locations. We will consider remote work for the right candidate.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Coordinating with detailers to monitor progress of drawings.
Identifying, requesting, and following up on required information from architects and engineers.
Performing field measurements.
Coordinating with other trades, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
Scheduling production and delivery of materials.
Scheduling and overseeing erection.
Resolving job site problems.
Pricing and issuing change order requests and negotiating change orders with General Contractors, Construction Managers, or Owners.
Working with accounting on job cost estimates and other financial matters.
Developing and maintaining client relationships.
Developing and maintaining erector relationships and capabilities.
Traveling to job sites.
Other work as assigned by Crystal Steel executives.
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in project management for a structural steel fabricator/erector, or at least 3 years of experience with a college degree in architecture, construction management, or civil/structural engineering.
