Overview
Physicist for Resilience Engineering & System Operations at IonQ. You will operate and improve IonQ’s quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology as part of a cross-functional team. In the first three months, you will learn how to maintain our quantum computers’ hardware and software. This role is onsite at our Chattanooga, TN office. Responsibilities
Ensure high uptime and performance of our commercial quantum computers through maintenance, monitoring, and engineering of state-of-the-art systems Deliver a great customer experience and continuously improve it Automate capabilities to optimize system performance Collaborate with physicists and engineers to build tools and technologies that improve current and future systems Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations to keep systems running at peak performance Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physics, engineering, or another physical science Desire and ability to work on a distributed team with excellent communication and collaboration Hands-on experience with optical alignments, laser stabilization, and/or AOMs Willingness to learn new things and an interest in emerging technologies Strong interest in physics and quantum physics Formal training or education in statistics Ability to adapt to a growing and changing work environment Flexible working hours with on-call rotation as needed 3+ years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 1+ year laboratory experience in atomic and/or optical physics Preferred
PhD in physics, engineering, or a related physical science Background in data analysis, data science, or machine learning Software engineering experience Location, Travel & Job Details

The approximate base salary range is $93,150 – $121,958. Total compensation includes base, bonus, and equity. Details of benefits are available on IonQ’s careers site and via offer communications.
