Overview
Bureau Veritas North America is seeking a Combination Residential and Commercial Building Inspector servicing a territory in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The person in this role will work from a home office and spend considerable time in the field daily. The candidate should enjoy being outside, working independently, and working with clients in the field. The inspector will perform field inspections on PA UCC permitted projects and serve as the Building Code Official for approximately 3 contracted municipalities. Responsibilities
Performs a full range of inspection and evaluation of residential new construction and light commercial new construction, including complex structural and non-structural components such as plumbing, mechanical, electrical, green building, and fire protection systems, for compliance with applicable codes, other regulations, and approved plans and specifications. Compiles, analyzes, and evaluates findings of investigations and inspections. Issues standard construction and occupancy permits and approves final inspection certificates. Maintains clear, concise, and comprehensive records and reports related to inspection activities. Job Requirements
High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree (preferred). 2–5 years of experience as a certified inspector performing multi-code building inspections (preferred). Prior inspection experience of new residential developments and new commercial construction (preferred). Working knowledge of the UCC, ICC, CBC, and other applicable local codes (preferred). Combination Building Inspector certifications with the ICC (preferred). Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Team player capable of working well with clients and co-workers. Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, but not required. Working knowledge of office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel). The salary range for candidates meeting our basic requirements starts at approximately $20 per hour and goes up to $25 per hour for an experienced, licensed/certified individual. The target salary is contingent upon factors such as experience, licenses, or certifications. In addition, pay increases are available with additional certification/licensure once hired.
