Mariners Church is a vibrant and welcoming community located in Half Moon Bay, dedicated to living out the teachings of Jesus Christ and making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families. With a congregation of approximately 200-250 active participants, the church serves as a beacon of hope in an unchurched area, fostering connections that reach beyond its walls. Our weekly services are heavily focused on worship, praise, and the teachings of the Bible to become who God intends us to be.

Additionally, we aspire to enhance our outreach efforts to neighboring communities, ensuring we reach unchurched families and individuals on the Coastside and foster a culture of openness where families can worship together and experience true community.

Overview Mariners Community Church is seeking a passionate and dynamic Lead Pastor who will shepherd our congregation and engage with our unchurched community. The ideal candidate will embody our core values and vision for the future, fostering spiritual growth, involvement in the church, and outreach. Our goal is to cultivate a thriving and vibrant church environment that inspires individuals and families to connect with Jesus and each other.

Key Responsibilities

Vision, Strategic Planning, & Culture: Collaborate with church leadership to articulate a clear vision and strategic plan for spiritual growth and outreach. Analyze metrics related to church engagement and effectiveness, adapting strategies as needed to meet the congregation’s needs. Maintain a culture of openness and authenticity, encouraging families to worship together. Inspire a spirit of volunteerism, ensuring that members are actively engaged in ministry and outreach opportunities.

Teaching, Shepherding, & Discipleship: Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation, fostering spiritual growth throughout the church body. Deliver compelling and biblically sound messages that deepen the understanding of Scripture among all ages. Mentor and disciple members, encouraging them to grow in faith and service. Mentor ministry leaders and congregants to strengthen church growth and discipleship.

Oversee business operations and administration: Provide guidance, direction, and accountability for Mariner’s staff, overseeing business operations, finances, and strategic initiatives. Lead a clear strategy for developing future leaders within the church, preparing for transitions and ensuring the sustainability of ministries.

Ministry & Worship Development: Develop Bible-based sermon series and strategic ministry initiatives that resonate with our congregation and community. Work with the Worship Team to create and maintain inspiring worship experiences that glorify God and foster deep, heartfelt connections among attendees.

Community Engagement: Represent the church in the local community, actively engaging in outreach efforts to reach unchurched individuals and families. Develop, implement, and promote programs that expand our influence in the Coastside and surrounding communities.

Qualifications

A deep commitment to Christ and a strong understanding of Scripture.

Proven experience in pastoral ministry, leadership, and management.

Strong preaching and teaching abilities, with a passion for developing others spiritual gifts.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of community outreach and engagement.

An advanced degree in theology or ministry (or working towards it).

Ability to connect with a diverse demographic, including youth, families, and the unchurched.

Visionary and strategic thinker with a passion for Christ.

Compassionate and kind-hearted, demonstrating a strong moral compass.

Enthusiastic, proactive, curious life-long learner, with an ability to inspire others toward a common mission.

Community-minded and committed to outreach and service.

Humble, approachable, and adaptable, willing to collaborate with church staff and volunteers.

Compensation Base salary range starts at 125K and up, commensurate with experience
