The operation of high-speed presses, to form strip steel to specifications and configurations as required. Responsibilities
Set up, and operate punch press for blanking, piercing, stamping, shaving procedures. Load steel coils on unwinder. Proper placement and adjustment of progressive, modular, and nitrogen stripper dies in presses. Set up, adjust, and maintain chopper assembly. Set speed, monitor operation of press and auxiliary equipment. Perform visual and dimensional quality checks and complete SPC requirements. Remove processed steel (parts and scrap) from press operation in prescribed manner. Receive instructions from supervisor. Load and unload press operation (Jaco unwinders, minster presses, various dies) as necessary. Operate various small equipment (die carts, hand trucks, electric hoists) and use an assortment of hand tools (shovel, wrenches, mops, ram adjusting ratchet, steel cutting hammers and shears, etc.). Quality checks and reports as directed by operation requirements. Change and adjust tooling, dies and chopper blades. Use measuring equipment (e.g., microscope micrometers, go/no go pitch and block gauges) to ensure quality of fit-finish-form of components. Interpret blue prints and perform math computations involving decimals as required by role. Make decisions based on guidelines and experience necessary for quality operations. Communicate effectively to resolve equipment and tooling problems. Maintain a safe working environment by following a wide range of safety procedures and handling heavy physical exertions and adverse working conditions. Keep the working area clean and orderly. Qualifications
Knowledge based on training equivalent to trade school. Ability to perform complex mechanical setup and understand blue prints. Experience with setting up tooling, dies, chopper blades and using measurement devices to verify component quality. Interpersonal skills to discuss and resolve equipment or tooling problems. Understanding of decimals and mathematical computations related to fabrication processes. Safety and Compliance
