Consumer Lending Compliance Manager
Join Global Credit Union as our Consumer Lending Compliance Manager. Reports to: Consumer Lending Risk Manager.
Overview Responsible for oversight and coordination of Compliance and Documentation for all Consumer Lending departments (consumer loan origination, servicing, and collection teams). Lead business unit initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and compliance in internal processes. Conduct, manage, and oversee risk assessments, business continuity planning, compliance research, vendor management, internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and regulatory and financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Direct supervision and management of Consumer Lending Compliance and Documentation team members.
Ensure adherence to credit union, state, and federal regulator mandates within all Consumer Lending departments.
Support executive management in strategic planning with an emphasis on compliance oversight.
Foster a top‑to‑bottom compliance culture across lending and servicing teams.
Identify and review regulatory changes related to Consumer Lending and propose policy, procedure, and practice updates.
Submit business line risk assessments as directed by Enterprise Risk Management.
Document policies, procedures, practices, and correspondence to comply with board and regulatory requirements.
Primary coordinator and manager for all internal and external audits, including those by federal regulators.
Integrate regulatory compliance in all stages of product and services evaluation, development, testing, and deployment.
Support the development, deployment, and maintenance of the compliance management system and the three‑lines‑of‑defense philosophy.
Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business, finance, or related field expected. Advanced degrees or professional compliance certifications (e.g., JD, Credit Union Compliance Expert) preferred.
Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education Minimum 10 years of applicable experience in a heavily regulated industry, with demonstrated knowledge of consumer and credit card lending, collections, and servicing. Equivalent experience with a credit union or other financial institution acceptable.
Experience/Skills Soft skills—empathy, communication, active listening, trustworthiness, respect, supportiveness, motivation—required. Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, exercise independent judgment on significant changes, and perform detailed review of both system‑ and non‑system‑driven processes.
Tenure Categories based on education/experience. Advancement requires management recommendation and performance or certification credentials.
Compensation Salary Pay Range: $100,331 – $172,572 annually. Starting base salary is determined by experience, qualifications, education, and local wage requirements, within the stated range. New‑hire salaries generally fall within the minimum to midpoint of the range.
