Job Description
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk Department:

The Meritage Resort Job Summary The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments at the hotel. This role ensures the accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of goods and supplies throughout the property. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting hotel operations through efficient inventory management and delivery processes. Key Responsibilities Shipping & Receiving Operations Receive, inspect, and document all incoming shipments. Verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy. Coordinate and prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring proper packaging and labeling. Maintain accurate records of shipments and receipts using inventory or procurement software. Inventory Management Organize and store items in designated storage areas following safety and cleanliness standards. Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies to the purchasing team. Tag and track items with appropriate labeling for internal distribution. Communication & Coordination Notify appropriate departments (kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) of received goods. Coordinate delivery of items to various departments within the hotel in a timely manner. Liaise with vendors, couriers, and delivery personnel professionally and efficiently. Compliance & Safety Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized receiving area. Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures as well as local laws related to storage and shipping. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or hospitality preferred. Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic math and computer skills (Excel, inventory management software). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate hand trucks or pallet jacks. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. Working Conditions Primarily in back-of-house, warehouse, or receiving dock areas. May involve long periods of standing and manual labor.
