We are seeking a skilled and experienced
Dirt Foreman
to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in earthwork operations, including grading, excavation, and utility installation for highway and heavy civil projects. This role requires leadership, organization, and hands-on management of field crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily activities of dirt crews on highway and heavy civil construction projects. Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications to ensure proper execution. Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Oversee excavation, grading, and compaction activities to meet project specifications. Operate and manage heavy equipment as needed to support operations. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain workflow efficiency. Maintain accurate records of crew work, material usage, and project progress. Train, mentor, and lead crew members to maximize productivity and morale. Troubleshoot job site issues and develop effective solutions to keep projects on schedule. Qualifications Union Membership: Must be a current member in good standing. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in highway heavy construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role with extensive knowledge of earthmoving operations, soil conditions, and compaction requirements. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead diverse teams and foster a collaborative environment. Safety Focus: Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe construction practices. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with crews, management, and clients. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills to address challenges effectively. Seniority level
