The Captain Server oversees daily lounge service, supporting both leadership and front-line staff to ensure each guest experience reflects Sundance's standards of authenticity, craftsmanship, and understated luxury. This role blends hands-on service with calm, thoughtful leadership, maintaining consistency, presentation, and precision throughout every shift. Responsibilities
Lead pre-shift briefings to review priorities, menu highlights, and service standards. Guide and support servers and bartenders through coaching, feedback, and mentorship. Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure pacing, accuracy, and quality. Oversee setup and breakdown to maintain cleanliness and readiness. Monitor inventory, requisitions, and par levels for all service items. Engage guests with genuine hospitality, anticipating needs and ensuring satisfaction. Maintain documentation, including shift reports and operational checklists. Serve as liaison between management and staff for seamless communication. Prepare and present beverages to company standards; follow recipes precisely and maintain top presentation. Educate guests on products and services; understand and comply with Utah alcohol laws; serve responsibly and complete required documentation. Stock supplies and ensure equipment remains in good repair; maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas. Assist with hiring, training, and performance management; address employee issues and recognize strong performance; complete HR paperwork promptly. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; hospitality coursework preferred. 2+ years in luxury or boutique hotel dining required. 1+ year in a supervisory or captain role preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills. Must meet Utah alcohol certification requirements. Professional composure under pressure; detail-oriented hospitality focus. Benefits
