Sr. Material Planning and Logistics Project Manager Senior Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) Project Manager responsible for leading projects that optimize end‑to‑end supply chain performance across North American operations, improving working capital, material flow, transportation costs, and overall operational efficiency.

Group Summary The Magna Exteriors portfolio includes liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front‑end modules, active aerodynamic systems, and lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck, and industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities

Optimize Working Capital

– Drive reductions in working capital by developing and aligning PFEP with ERP systems to optimize inventory levels.

Lead Material Flow and Logistics Strategy

– Implement advanced storage solutions and streamline internal/external transportation networks.

Improve MP&L Performance

– Deliver measurable improvements in MP&L KPIs through operational enhancements and accountability.

Execute MP&L Strategies

– Align comprehensive MP&L strategies with business objectives to support long‑term goals.

Lead Cross‑Functional Projects

– Coordinate cross‑functional divisional teams to execute MP&L projects, ensuring collaboration and results.

Enhance Warehouse Operations

– Optimize warehouse operations and material handling to improve efficiency and throughput.

Reduce Logistics Costs

– Reduce transportation and conveyance costs through process improvements and waste reduction.

Implement Global Standards

– Roll out global MP&L standards across regional operations for consistency and compliance.

Drive Continuous Improvement

– Foster a culture of operational excellence and KPI accountability.

Foster Cross‑Functional Collaboration

– Work with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, Factory of the Future, and IT to support integrated MP&L initiatives.

Enable Data‑Driven Decisions

– Use detailed data analysis and KPI tracking to inform decision making.

Report to Senior Leadership

– Deliver performance reviews, strategic updates, and project status reports to senior leadership.

Support Lean Engineering

– Guide divisions in implementing lean engineering principles to improve MP&L operations.

Capture and Apply Lessons Learned

– Embed lessons learned into Magna’s systems, standards, and processes to sustain improvement.

Qualifications

Education/Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Practical experience with lean manufacturing, MP&L processes, PFEP, inventory management, demand forecasting, material conveyance, storage, transportation, and warehouse operations.

Proficiency in MS Office, ERP/WMS, MES, BI tools (e.g., Power BI), and programming languages (SQL, Python).

Strong analytical skills: data interpretation, trend identification, risk assessment, root‑cause analysis, and improvement implementation.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of driving accountability and results.

Experience/Certifications

Minimum 10 years of MP&L and/or related manufacturing experience.

APICS CPIM certification and Lean Bronze or Silver certification (Lean Certification Alliance, SME, AME, Shingo Institute) preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office and/or manufacturing environment, ability to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Requires local, domestic, and international travel.
