Appleton Finn
| Head of Southeast Division | Specializing in Heavy Civil, General Building, and Water & Wastewater Construction at Appleton Finn
Compensation:
$130,000 – $190,000 (DOE)
Employment Type:
Full-Time | On-Site
A nationally recognized heavy civil contractor, consistently named a Top Workplace, is seeking a Senior Scheduler to join its Denver-area operations. The company delivers large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects across Colorado and neighboring states — including highways, bridges, earthwork, and complex utility programs.
Position Overview
The Senior Scheduler will take full ownership of project schedules — partnering directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators to plan, forecast, and track construction progress. While technically proficient in Primavera P6, this role also requires strong field awareness and the ability to advise operations teams on sequence, risk, and recovery strategies.
This is an opportunity for an experienced scheduler to play a pivotal role in advancing project controls and mentoring junior staff, while contributing directly to some of the region’s most significant infrastructure programs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules in Primavera P6 for active and pursuit-phase heavy civil projects.
Collaborate closely with operations teams and field staff to ensure schedules reflect true field conditions and sequencing.
Lead schedule analysis, risk identification, and time impact evaluations.
Provide input during preconstruction and bid phases, assisting with baseline and pursuit schedules.
Support monthly progress updates, reporting, and executive briefings.
Mentor and assist junior schedulers and field personnel on scheduling principles and software best practices.
Engage regularly with the field — visiting sites to verify progress and provide schedule support.
Qualifications
7–15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction scheduling (highway, bridge, earthwork, and utilities).
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6; TILOS or SmartPM exposure a plus.
Demonstrated success managing schedules on projects valued between $50M and $500M+.
Solid understanding of CPM methodology, risk analysis, and time impact documentation.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, field-focused approach.
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
Why This Role
Join a leading contractor with a strong culture of trust, autonomy, and teamwork — no micromanagement, no red tape.
Work directly with project leadership on some of the region’s most impactful infrastructure projects.
Defined advancement potential into Project Controls Manager or Regional Scheduling Manager roles.
