Area Supervisor

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep a clean work area and execute company operational processes. Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
Safety is the number one priority and safe behaviors are practiced in everything they do. Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment and immediately correct or report unsafe conditions. Responsible for building security, entry/exit control, EAS devices, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups and register area. Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits. Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, reporting and emergency procedures. Test all fire alarm systems on schedule and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested. Customer Service
Treat all customers, Associates and leaders with respect. Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates using company recognition programs. Personal and Store Brand
Represent and support the company brand at all times. Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code and ensure all Associates adhere to the dress code. Keep all areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard. Responsible for daily trash removal. General Merchandising
Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks and following up per best practice. Responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed and process all merchandise with urgency. Responsible for receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries. Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms and help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor when processed. Secure and process back‑stock to company policy, manage floor moves and signing including promotional signing as needed. Loss Prevention
Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a large customer service presence on the sales floor. Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguard confidential information, cash and merchandise. Maintain Public View Monitor system and conduct “code” package inspections. Execute all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches. Front End Supervision and Operations
Execute all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches. Maintain pace, energy and presence at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time. Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards. Control associate break schedules for backups, lunches and breaks. Ensure all equipment works properly and maintain proper supplies and recovery for the front end area. Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged and ticketed. Fitting Rooms
Maintain and clean fitting rooms. Audit and account for fitting room garment tags per company policy. Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day. Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
Ensure cash pulls and bank deposits are conducted to company policy. Understand and adhere to policies for refund approval, associate purchase approval, secure tills and cash in safe, register paid outs/ins, void approval, register media and break schedules. Administer payroll duties including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission and payroll reporting as needed. Other duties as assigned by Store Manager. Excellent verbal communication skills. Fluency in English. Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements / ADA
Use all store equipment including PDTs, registers and PC as required. Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking and moving around the store. Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop. Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs. Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies. For stockroom shifts, regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 lbs. Supervisory Responsibilities
