Stepping Stones Museum for Children
Overview
The ELLI Classroom Support role at Stepping Stones Museum for Children supports the Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI), a high-quality, interdisciplinary approach to early childhood education. ELLI embeds developmentally appropriate language and literacy into STEAM content. Educators provide comprehensive, play-based learning experiences for children from birth to age 5, facilitate the curriculum, maintain frequent contact with parents and families, and coordinate curriculum while managing classroom operations to ensure a safe and stimulating environment. Educators are curious, creative, and enthusiastic lifelong learners and are supported by ongoing professional development funded by ELLI.
Opportunities are available at Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk, with collaborations at Norwalk Public Schools and Fairfield University, offering school-year and year-round positions.
Responsibilities
Supports the management of daily operations of the classroom, including staff and children, in compliance with NAEYC, state, and local laws and regulations, adhering to all policies and procedures.
Supports daily implementation of ELLI-aligned immersive learning experiences; follows structured curriculum; embraces children\'s capabilities.
Ensures the health and safety of children under active supervision at all times.
Supports families in their children\'s learning outcomes by welcoming and connecting through parent events and daily interactions while encouraging supportive relationships.
Qualifications
Minimum one (1) year experience working with children.
High School diploma; in process of obtaining a CDA or associate degree preferred.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office; proven ability to learn new systems and software.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
