Facilities Maintenance Technician - Full-Time
Location: San Luis Obispo, CA
San Luis Ambulance (SLA) is a privately owned Emergency and Non‑emergency ambulance service dedicated to saving lives. Job Summary The Facilities Maintenance Technician works under the general direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure company buildings, grounds, and systems remain operational and safe.
Responsibilities
Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on facility systems and equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues.
Work on various building components, including lighting, door systems, and ventilation.
Conduct repairs on floors, walls, ceilings, and exterior structures.
Maintain service records and documentation for all repairs and inspections.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Handle installation and maintenance of facility fixtures and appliances.
Utilize lifts, ladders, and scaffolding to access work areas safely.
Use diagnostic equipment and specialized tools for facility system repairs.
Operate hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, and pneumatic equipment.
Handle chemicals such as cleaners, sealants, lubricants, and coatings while adhering to safety guidelines.
Qualifications
High School diploma or related discipline, preferred.
At least one (1) year of maintenance duties for a company, preferred.
Construction background, a plus.
Current California driver’s license; driving record in compliance with SLA policy regarding insurability.
Experience and skills in carpentry, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping.
Experience working with power tools and knowledge of their safe operation.
Excellent work habits, including punctuality, efficient use of time, and prioritizing tasks.
Ability to work independently to maintain and repair company facilities according to standards.
Ability to operate and maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
Knowledge of and compliance with safety codes and standards for company facilities.
Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 100 pounds.
Ability to perform moderate physical work.
Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
Ability to work in conditions that create dirt and dust.
Compensation $22.00 - $27.00 per hour.
