Summary Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Materials Coordinator for our North Kingstown, RI location.

Description The Materials Coordinator will perform duties necessary to maintain accurate inventory records of stock items. Inspect, count, label, and locate items received into stocking locations; pick, inspect, count, label, package, and ship items routed from stocking locations. Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers using a variety of forklifts and pallet jacks. Responsible for quality and quantity of parts distributed.

What You'll Do

Operates forklifts to load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers in a safe manner

Inspect, count, label, and locate items received or distributed from stocking locations

Enters inventory transactions or provides data and source documents for timely data entry by others to maintain accurate inventory records of all items received and distributed from stocking locations

Receives verbally, computer, or written instructions, i.e., shop order pick lists, receiving tickets, customer order pick lists, and makes appropriate written or system entries to complete assigned tasks using approved materials control processes

Pick, package, and ship parts to other business units

Utilizes source documents, i.e., shop order pick lists, receiving tickets, customer order pick lists or mass transfer sheets, to pick, package, and label products, ensuring accuracy of inventory and condition of delivery is undamaged; delivers packages to traffic team for shipment by various carriers

Participates in the Cycle Count Program to verify accurate inventory data, investigate discrepancies, and reports findings to the Materials Control Supervisor or other designated individual

Distributes office supplies, delivers incoming mail, and prepares outgoing mail for pick up

Remains current with shipping and freight carrier procedures and policies

Processes RMAs

Receives and opens crates to retrieve documentation when required

Answers telephone when supervisor is not present or when requested

Complies with all safety and health regulations, i.e., daily visual inspections of forklifts reporting any issues, use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), when required, etc.

Maintains thorough knowledge of company's products and understanding of structure

Remains current with industry trends and best practices

Point person assigned to complete small scale comprehensive project related tasks

Learns from and studies experienced Materials Coordinators' techniques and work

Remains current with skills by attending training classes, independent research, and seminars as needed

Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Some college and/or APICS courses desired

0 - 2 years related experience

Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) forklift certification desirable

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail, organized and self‑motivated

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment that changes daily

Experience with inventory control or ERP software; ERP LX or BPCS desired

Understanding of warehouse and inventory control principles

Excellent Customer Service skills

Works under general direction as well as in a team environment

Frequently in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasional bending/kneeling

Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects

Regularly move around the office and occasionally the factory floor

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus

Frequently communicates with other employees and customers

80% factory floor setting; 20% office setting

Office is clean, orderly, properly lighted, and ventilated

Office noise levels are considered low to moderate
